Mormon Credentials

Lest anyone doubt my Mormon credentials, I present a photograph of some of my polygamous ancestors.

Unless I am mistaken, I am descended from the young, sturdy-looking wife who is standing in the back. Sometimes I think having a second (even) younger wife could be handy.

    Then I imagine that it would also be handy to have a second husband (what’s good for the goose is good for the gander and vice versa), and I decide it’s not such a great idea. :P

    Has it been a month yet? I thought you would lay off the Mormon thing for a while? Anyway, I’m only a second generation Mormon, but sometimes I also feel like these are also my people. I think Mormons have ingraned the pioneer spirit so much that everyone could find something to identify with its early culture. Hey, if that man was able to father children in his old age, maybe there is something to this crazy religion.

    I was scanning one of my mother’s albums and came across this photo. Thought I’d better post it while I was thinking about it.

    There is something appealing in their libertine, contrarian streak. It’s a long way from there to where the LDS church is today.
