Lady Lumps

A bit of a diversion from the typical fare in these parts. Perhaps this is old news to most, but I thought I would share my appreciation for Alanis Morissette‘s satirical genius. To set the stage, first view the Black Eyed Peas version of My Humps. Then watch Alanis’ version. Better yet, just listen to it. All Alanis had to do was slow down the tempo and sing it like a ballad to show how ridiculous the original version was. It never fails to make me laugh.

I really like this quote that was on the front of Alanis’ website.

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

Anaïs Nin sounds like an interesting character.

That was great – I just emailed it to Oldest Daughter, who I know will get a kick out of it. She and some friends love to recite various rap songs, in a flat voice with no inflection, which is much more entertaining than the original songs.
