Maybe I’m too old school, but you may want to review the Netiquette guidelines and take it easy on your caps lock key: it looks like you’re shouting. Perhaps that what you meant though. Anyway…

“For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”—1 Corinthians 1:19

I’m a little confused by this sentiment. Putting it in my own words, it tells me to stop thinking and shut up. Harsh, I know, but that’s what it boils down to, doesn’t it? On the other hand, we have Jesus telling us to be wise as serpents (Matthew 10:16). Confusing.

Furthermore, how am I supposed to test the fruits of those who claim to be prophets (Matthew 7:15–16) if not by using my own judgment? How can I tell if I should be Mormon, Hindu, Muslim, or Buddhist if not by consulting my own wisdom in deciding which is true? Perhaps some will tell me to listen to God, but even then I have to discern for myself so that I’m not seduced by evil spirits (or a fanciful imagination fed by atypical brain chemistry) masquerading as God.

It’s as if Mormonism is deeply threatened by those who think for themselves. It can’t withstand the light of a little critical thinking. Contrast this with what some believe to be Buddha’s last words: “Doubt everything. Find your own light.” Courageous words from a religious leader.

So which is it? Should I stop thinking for myself or should I exercise wisdom and learn from my own experience?
