Sugar ≠ Hyperactive Children
Don’t you hate when your children get hopped up on Kool-Aid and cookies, act out in front of their grandparents, and ransack your purse for sugar money?
Well actually, sugar does not make kids hyperactive. Yet another example of failed folk wisdom.

Great! You know….you are no making it easier for us troubled mom’s that want to blame bad behavior on outside influences. Thanks a lot

Yeah, good point. Just from the empicical data (my personal observaiton) I can assure you that with my kids it’s not sugar, rather bedtime. It’s like their just trying to burn-off the excess so they can get to sleep. Sometimes it’s total insanity around 9pm. Downstairs neighbors pounding on the ceiling.

It would be nice to have sugar to blame, but alas! it isn’t to be.
Matt, I can totally see it, the impending confinement to bed triggers an urge to let off as much steam as possible.

whether it specifically causes hyperactivity or not, there are still more reasons than not to avoid sugar, especially for kids.

That’s true. We try to limit our girls’ sugar intake for health reasons. We just don’t have hyperactivity as a reason to do so.
